Default hd-dvd

i have a few question but first

1.Someone told me that hd-dvd are double sided and that one side is for regular dvd format and the other is hd. Well i bought some hd movies and they are not double sided, one side has a picture on it like anyother dvd. Is hd-dvds playable on regualr dvd players?

2.the xbox 360 universal remote for the 360 hd-dvd player, what is the use for the volume controls? How do you set the controller to raise and lower the volume on your tv?

3.Why does when i press open/close on the universal remote does it open and close the 360 drive bay and not the hd-dvd players disk tray?

ive been playin with it recently. hd dvd are usually 1 sided and only have the hd movie.

the remote seems fairly useless in some purposes. it doesn't open the dvd drive. maybe if u program it to see ur tv brand, it'll do vol.

you use it with a decrypting utility on a PC. You can't enter it anywhere on the xbox nor any HD-DVD player for that matter. Once you decrypt it with the code the video you copy becomes unlocked. Then it can be burned (though no HD-DVD burner exists) or stored on your hard drive and played back later.

Needless to say, the AACS (the encryption format on HDDVD and BluRay) licensing lawyers are pissed this code is out. They spent untold millions developing the encryption to prevent copying and it was broken faster than the encryption on regular DVDs known as CSS.

on your question...
1. HD-DVDs can be one or two sided. They are usually one sided. There are also HD-DVDs with a regular DVD on one side for universal compatibility (that is not in high def, but the HD-DVD side is).

2. I think you enter a code on the remote. read the manual.

3. I don't know if the HD-DVD drive has a IR receiver to trigger the opening, though it can be triggered to eject via USB command from the Xbox.
