Off-topic TalkWhere overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.
my daily watch is the omega speedmaster.. its perfect for any occasion.. from weekend shorts n tshirt, to work w/ suit..
you can get one for ~$1500.. but, if you look around, you can get the highly sought after speedmaster "moon" watch for a little more.. trust me, get this one if you can!
Get a high-dollar Kinetic watch from Seiko - it runs off the kinetic energy of your wrist movements. They go for about $1500 or so and almost NO ONE has them. They're different looking and very rare - sure, they're not a "brand name" like Omega, Tissot, or Tag Heuer but they're a heck of a statement. I'd buy one in a flash if I had the cash, but since someone stole my stash, I'll wait to find one in the trash. Sorry, just got on a roll there...
I got the Kirium Ti5 Chronograph for graduation. I love this watch. It takes some abuse, and never looks bad. It's made of titanium, so the metal is really tough. The only negative to it all was, it was $3K including a new band, but worth every penny to me!
I wear a Rolex Air King everyday, and have for about 13 years now. Yes, 13. I've mountaineered with it, scuba dived with it, go to metal concers with it - I don't baby it by any means...generally, I don't even think about the fact that I'm wearing it. Unless I want to know what time it is It looks nearly as good as the day I got it, and if I cleaned it, it would look even better. The identical watch today costs more than 3 times what I paid for it, and that's normal from what I hear. I could sell it for more than I bought it for, if I wanted to. Also, the design hasn't changed which should say something about it's style...if you like the way it looks. It's not going to go "out".
The only problem with them is that they need to be cleaned every 3 - 5 years or so, to the tune of about $300. The last time I did this was about 5 years ago, and I can tell I need another cleaning since it's tending to gain time on me. I don't know if this is something that happens with all mechanical watches though, as this is the only really good watch I've ever owned.
oh really, its a fake??? what makes you think so??? You only saw it, you didnt even feel it! I posted pics of the official rolex stamp. If my watch is a fake, i will buy an s2000 for every member on this board.
The 'Made in China' bit is nothing to brag about, but it has a Honda badge and tells me the time which is one up on my MY2000 S2000.
Personally I'd love the Omega X-33. Amazing watch, but you guys don't buy enough of my console covers and intake extensions for me to be able to afford one.
And even if you did the GF has a long list of things to buy that come before an expensive watch.
