Honeymoon Suggestions Needed........
I agree with Spanky! Hawaii is beautiful, our economy could use it, and why give the tourist $$$ to a foreign country. Think of all we have to offer, Oahu: Waikiki, and great nightlife, Big Island: (Spanky), Volcanoes Nat'l Park, Maui: Haleakala crater and Lahaina a historic whaling village, Lanai, Kauai and Molokai all have unique things to offer!

Still we (me and wife) are going on the honeymoon soon early next year.
So here's the deal:
I originally had planned a "surprise" honeymoon in Puerto Rico. I had scheduled to rent out a honeymoon hut in Cullabra (sp?) and we were going to spend the week doing and experiencing things as the natives do. We would find our own activities and our own way. However, with the unexpected house purchase, this honeymoon would cost us more then I would be able to afford.
My best friend had his honeymoon in Antigua, an all inclusive Sandals Resort. He had a blast...he had such a blast that he gave me a call on his honeymoon (this is still a sour point to be made in front of his wife). His cousin and his wife (my fiance's best friend), went to a Sandals Resort in St. Lucia. They had fun, but it was much more laid back than my buddy's honeymoon.
Ronica has wanted to go to Hawaii for the longest time, and I was open to that idea...however, I think that it'll cost me much more to do a Hawaii package than I want to spend right now.
As far as the plan-as-you-go (No-Plan-Package) honeymoon idea....I love that idea. I don't think Ronica would like it too much. You see, almost every season we do a long weekend together. This weekend usually turns into an adventure; we decide which direction we want to travel, I check out the S2K and its health...she packs a weekend bag, we gas up and go in the direction. When we come to a light or a split in the highway, the passenger flips a coin to determine which path to take. About 200 miles out, we usually stop and find something to do in the area we are in. The next day we do another 200 miles....if we get more done, then we go further. The next day we repeat the exercise, and on the last day, we drive the most direct route back home.....
So let me sum up my thoughts now. So far on my "short" list are:
Hawaii (don't no where in Hawaii, or what it'll cost me, etc),
Sandals Resort Antigua,
St. Maarten (hmmmm, nude beaches....),
LeSource Resort Grenada (so far at the top of my list with Sandals St. Lucia),
Sandals St. Lucia (so far at the top of my list with LeSource Resort Grenada),
Nevis and St. Kitts just made the list....
Thanks for all the help guys.......and keep the suggestions coming.

your car from LA to the California wine country- highway 1 all the way to SF...
several "reasonable" spots to stay along the route (cambria by the sea and big sur) and in the wine country. some of the most beautiful scenery in the world (for her)... and some of the best driving roads (for you) too!
