Default I need help with AIM.

I use trillian; however, my connection to AIM has failed recently. When I click on the connection manager under the AIM contact to try to establish a connection, it says that, " a connection with this name already exist. If you wish to reconnect, please right click the existing console window and do so."

When I go to the toggle status window, this is what it says:

Start of Console buffer: Tue Jan 29 14:26:47 2002
*** Creating connection "JohnDavidS2000"
*** Buddy rights: 200 buddies allowed, 750 watchers allowed.
*** You have been marked as away.
*** BOS rights: 200 max on permit list, 200 max on deny list.
*** You have successfully connected to the AOL Instant Messenger service.
*** Fatal error (couldn't receive flap): Error Code 10054
*** Disconnecting.
*** Reconnecting to AIM as "JohnDavidS2000".
*** Will attempt 10 connections with 60 second intervals.
*** Connecting to AIM as "JohnDavidS2000", attempt #1.

Is AIM down nation wide... or is it just me. Anybody out there know what I'm doing wrong?

It has been several days since I have used aim, so I don't know when this error first occurred.

Thanks for your help.

I sometimes get that error msg. after the connection is unexpected dropped. I just close and re-open Trillian and the connection is fine...

thanks for the quick response, but I have closed and reopened Trillian already. When I open trillian back up I still can not connect. I have tried opening AOL im alone without Trillian, and it doesn't work either.

Trouble with AIM?

Just squeeze some out of the tube onto the fuzzy end of the toothbrush and use the brush to smear it on your teeth.

There is a problem w/ Trillian Secure Messaging and AIM

According to the Trillian website you need to disable SecureIM.
  • Go to Preferences->AIM->Misc
  • Deselect "Activate SecureIM Capabilities"

The Trillian team is trying to get it reactivated and believes it still works correctly w/ ICQ.

Thanks Gregg I was going to address this post directly to the S2K Days Ass Man... as I knew you would have the answer since you work with this kind of stuff.

BTW--Cerulean has just released Trillian 0.72. SecureIM is disabled until further notice, but the new client has auto-updating.

You can find it at http://www.trillian.cc

if you have a software problem, it's always a good idea to check the site that you got it from for updates.
