Actually "obese" is a loose term tossed around a lot. For all you know he may be obese. He hasn't posted his height so you really cant tell if he is or not. And the fact that he wants to lose 42 some pounds is 2 months.... its not going to happen. He can safely come close which will then give enough motivation to keep it off, and eventually reach his goal.

I agree with interval training, and with strength training, both will help burn fat fast.

Good luck bud.

Is it unhealthy to do it in two months? Five pounds a week doesn't seem too unreasonable to me, but I'm not educated in this at all.

Today for example, would a salad be a bad choice for lunch and dinner? I'm talking about lettuce and light ranch, no cheese or eggs or anything good, and water.

lifestyle changes will beat anything else

however, i would try basic cardio (jogging, biking, walking more) and lifting if you dont have any goals aside from pure weight loss

IIRC, the "safe" amount of weight to lose is 2lbs/wk.

Eating salads is certainly a start but burning calories is the more effective part (ie: exercise!)

I'm 5'8", 212 lbs. I think I'm considered obese, but if you were standing next to me you would think I'm an average guy. I told my gf how much I weighed and she didn't believe me.

To be obese at 212lbs would make him too short to reach the pedals in an S2000.

2-3lbs/week max to be healthy unless you're very over weight.

And yes, salad is a bad choice. you need to count calories, but still eat a balanced diet of protein, carbs, and essential fats. Whoever said eggs are bad, even when trying to lose weight, is a moron.

It's really pretty simple. go to the gym, lift weights, run, and eat right. 2-3 lbs/week is sofa king easy. lifting weights is the best way to cut fat.. period. interval training is second. long steady cardio third. So, you should prioritize your time with this in mind.

but seriously if all you care about is cutting pounds, then by all means just run 10 miles per day and drink lemonade.

ok at 5 8, 212, I still wouldn't lose 5/week. maybe 5 for the first two weeks, then 3.

Cut out sugar, or anything that converts to sugar. You will easily lose 25 lbs in your time frame and it will be around your stomach. check out the south beach diet.

Depends on how you want to loose the weight. Are you wanting to use suppliments? or natural with diet? If you need help on choosing some suppliments give me a PM.

Safe = 1 lbs/week. Of course working at a gym for a few years you learn a few secrets.

You couldn't be more wrong. Starving yourself is absolutely the worst thing you could do. If you want burn fat quickly and healthy (notice I didn't say lose weight), you have to forget the old and ignorant diet methods of eating like a bird and instead you need to EAT EAT EAT.

Go here: bodybuilding.com, head to the "burning fat" and "nutrition" sections in the forums and READ READ READ!
