Hey HI50,

I've heard bad stuff about Classic. I'm getting mine from First Texas Honda. Whatever you do, make sure they don't put that Classic Honda Emblem on your car!

First Texas is out until 2002 models (I'm taking the last one arriving in August).

GL!

Hey Gabedude!

Thanks for the info. Man, I was told by everyone I met when I first got to Austin to deal with Classic only.

They are giving me the car at MSRP though, and Ive been mainly dealing with the Sales Manager.

Wonder if I should just back out and wait for the 02' and get that infamous glass window

BTW, anyone know if i-VTEC will be on the 02'?

Firstup.....don't trust Subaru one little bit. Yes, they may have claimed 6.4 0-60 for the WRX.....this is about right. The 5.8 that the magazines 'achieved' is not with an 'off-the-boat' WRX. A few years ago back in Australia....Subaru gave one dubiuous white WRX to the magazines for testing...and it pulled some excellent times. Some people were suspect. At that time, the car was supposed to run (I think) 12.9-14psi from the factory.

So, "Fast Fours and Rotaries", a noted Aussie performance magazine took the same WRX that was tested in another local rag at 5.2 0-100kmh (96.1mph), and also another brand new WRX that one of their staff writers had as a personal car.

They bolted boost gauges up to both. Sure enough, the stock 'staff writer's' car pushed Subaru's published boost figure, but INTERESTINGLY, the white 'test' car managed to put out 19-20psi of boost and it was SUPPOSEDLY stock. Subaru didn't know that FF&R were going to do that. I believe that this particular car was retired from testing quickly after!!!! Subaru (and other manufacturers) 'can' be shifty. They have a LOT of money resting on the laurels of the WRX. They need a car that will drive sales. And, a heavy, AWD car like the WRX won't drive as many sales with mid-6 second 0-60 times as compared to high 5's. I've driven PLENTY of WRX's.......modded and stock on Australian 98 octane gas (not the shitty 93 octane here in the US). There is NO way that a bone stock, new WRX will do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds..or even 5.6 that I think another mag 'achieved'. Even the 1999 WRX that is lighter than the current model (and on 98 octane) won't do it in that time. Check your boost Subaru!

Now, with this RSX dude...I don't really think he is a troll by the purest definition Sev. More likely he is some pimply faced 18-21 year old with rich parents. He's been lusting badly after an S2000, but his 'olds just won't foot the bill. But, they'll likely stretch it to the RSX. This may be why our little friend is so overjoyed that he thinks the RSX is fast. He is just trying to convince himself that it is a close match so he won't feel so bad that he couldn't get an S2000. He's also lilely NEVER driven an S2000 or NSX (maybe in Gran Turismo that is!). Besides, the RSX probably IS the fastest car he has ever driven........ Compared to his Hyundai Tiburon, or his sister's '93 Corolla that is!!!!!!!!!

It's healthy to dream....for Subaru AND 18 year olds alike
Cheers,

hi50, I drove that RSX-S today too, and one of the salespeople took it out to the Harley dealership show tonight. It drew a crowd like a dog in heat at an SPCA! When we got in, it had 15 miles on it, and as embarrassed as I am to admit it, I ran it through its paces to get a feel for it.

For an Integra, I was pretty impressed, though from all I remember of my Gen 2 Integra, this one only beat it in driving pleasure because of the VTEC, which my GS didn't have. Though this one seems a bit tall and looks a LOT like the Celica from the side (had to look twice when I saw it at the show to be sure, and I had just driven it this afternoon!), the exterior styling is really cool (never cared for the gen 3 look), the interior is really pleasing to the eye and ergonomically correct, and I liked the feel of the tranny, though I would put a Voodoo knob on it to shorten the throw right off the bat. The travel on the tranny seemed really long after driving the S2000! The brakes were nice and responsive, unlike my S2000, even after a fluid upgrade...

My unprofessional 2 cents worth...

Guys - I wouldnt bag the new teg/rsx too much.

I know that the new rsx-typer/ITR is 3 seconds faster around takasu race track (the honda built track) than the current ITR.

Thats fast, no matter how you look at it.

Uh peppy, Uh no... I don't think so, At least mine's not peppy.
A Miata is peppy, I'll beat an RSX Type R or not. And Redline is 7400 (Road & Track). I'm sure it's nice, but it does not have the equal 50/50 weight distribution. My friend test drove one and said my S2K is much tighter and he said it will not beat my S2K, and the S2K rides like it's on rails. He did not get the same feeling from The RSX and also the back seat was small and tight, anybody over 5'5 and over 200Lbs will be uncomfortable on long trips. He did say however that the seat support was nice. I asked him about the steering wheel and leather he said the S2K leather is as nice, but obviously Acura did not use cheap carpet. The sales guy really pushed it, he was sort of impressed but he said not even close to the S2K.
