Yea this applies in many cases. We live in an economy where self-sufficiency is praised and strived for. And Christianity is the antithesis to that. This is also the reason why there aren't such drastic miracles as written in the Bible (and supported by historians of the time as well) because in this day and age, no matter how magnificent the miracles God would perform, there would be many people who would still refuse to believe, not from the abundance of supporting evidence, but simply because they don't want to. In short, if God did perform miracles like he did, it wouldn't make much of a diff.

You can't relate a human father to God. Relating a human male to a supreme, faultless being is a bad analogy. There are plenty of Fathers out there shooting up while their kids are putting forks in light sockets.

And the second part does is not an aswer as well. Who are you to decide who has god's blessing and who doesn't? Maybe those people who have killed millions of people throughout history have felt the same as you, felt the same feeling you have?

"Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening,
terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in
this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the
religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by
giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their
view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and
learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness;
chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself."

No life after death. Life after death was created out of the fear of death and the fear of no longer existing. After death, you just rot.

"How do you steam a clam?" (Johnny Carson)

"I don't know. How do you steam a clam?" (Ed McMahon)

"Make fun of his religion!" (Johnny Carson)

And another favorite:

"The curse of the Krellman diamond."

"I hadn't heard of that. What is the curse of the Krellman diamond?"

"MRS. Krellman!!"
