Lotus Elise
As far as I know, Lotus Elise are available in the U.S. in one of three ways:
1. Direct from Lotus, for use as a track car only. No legal registration in any state.
2. From Sun International (http://www.suninternational-usa.com/) that is importing them and then converting them to a US legal version by, among other things, installing a 200 HP Honda 1.8L from an Integra type R. About $55K.
3. Purchase a car from a foreign national or diplomat who has imported the car into the country. These cars might have a limited term exemption that would allow them on the street for some period of time, but in all likelihood will need to be converted to a full-time track car or illegally registered through some means.
