He isn't supposed to be anyone's idol. He has athletic talent, and that's that.

After a year or so in prison, he wouldn't need to ever work again, even if he's banned from football, cuz he still has millions of dollars that he's earned.
depends on how he's spent those millions.....

On a serious note - I can't believe NONE of F*&KING Lawyers, Agents, PR people around him told him that this is illegal, immoral and dangerous to his career.
because none of them knew about it?

if I'm shooting up heroin in the back of a bathroom somewhere, do you think i'd consult my lawyer to see if its ok or not? Or ask the HR dept at my company?

He most likely knew what he was doing was wrong before he got caught. He most likely felt invincible because of what his "status" was and thus thought he wouldnt get caught or if he did, it would be something he could squirm out of.

There was a bit in the news about a rap star from just a few years ago who was also charged like Vick. The guy only had to do a public service annoucement. No where near the rape that Vick is getting.
While I do not support Vick, think the guy is a very overpriced NFL QB.(who always kept the falcons out of being a contender) I do think he is getting a much larger punishment that dose not fit the crime.
Did a yahoo look up "charged with dog fighting" got 5,780,000 hits.

most likely the rap star went through a state court proceeding where as the actions surrounding vick required him to be prosecuted by the federal courts.... its a different ball game between the two.

vick is guilty and i'm not supporting him.

But, whoever said he kept his team out of contention is just plain crazy. His teammates had the Most dropped passes last year while Vick had yet Another All Star season. Yes, he ran and scrambled a lot, but he did it because players like Crumpler quit catching the ball, even when hit directly in the numbers. Vick played Stellar last year, any sports analyst will confirm that.

Some people just need a good slap upside the head!
From CNN:
[Vick] "said, "Through this situation I've found Jesus." "

If you're in the limelight and have attention on you or not, you ARE a role model.

There's a shift when the definition is by one's self than by others.

People who therefore are famous and have a role in society should be "punished" more so than you or me. Perhaps not punished "more" but at least held completely accountable out in the open.

Even with a harsher punishment the famous one's are lucky. If I did something like this my life would be OVER. He still has his millions and can gain back his "reputation". I would lose everything.

He is a product of the ghetto and it seems anybody who cares about this has their panties in a bunch. His bad luck is he did this in a country where people spend more on dogs than on the homeless humans.
Maybe. 41 billion, is what we spend on animals, but those are pets. We typically don't keep homeless people as pets. But we do take care of our family and friends to keep them from being homeless. And I venture to guess that if we separated the homeless from the spca, that the numbers would be a lot closer if not in favor of the homeless.

Why is it if stray dogs fight to the death in some alley and one dog dies from being mauled nobody gives a shlt, but if these guys hosted the fights all you dog lovers get all butt hurt ?
Because even though it's nature we label on (by our thought processes) the act bad or good. We see dogs attacking objectively and that's all it is: dogs fighting. However (on a side), dogs in packs usually don't attack each other; it's bad for the pack. We as humans don't live like dogs. At least most of us. When we see living things we generally like to see them alive, unless they harm us or are a threat. Domesticated animals aren't threats, unless they are abused, by humans or are feral. Since we pride ourselves on being rational and not wild animals acting on instincts we label things like dog fighting: bad, and things that happen in the wild either: bad (subjectively) or just "nature" (objectively). Plus who's to say no one cares about the pack dogs? People rescue feral dogs all of the time.

I asked a "humane officer" who collects strays how often see deals with strays fighting roaming the streets and she said weekly. She actually likes animals and was surprised how the boy (hope nobody gets butt hurt over calling him boy) was being made a example.
Ok.

I go dove hunting next weekend and my wifes friend tried to give me crap for blowing the shlt out of the bird of love. I told her to go f_ck herself. I reminded her that her pvssy whipped husband taunts fish with food, ensnares the fish with a hook in the mouth and them proceeds to fight the fish for the next few hours as the fish dies. With me it's one shot one kill.
If you're not that sensitive about animals in the first place, why give a sh1t about the fish in the first place. Hunting is legal that's fine with me. But I'd much rather see it used for a legitimate purpose (like survival) than for sport.

Yeah and as we all know, the news (esp. Fox News) always has the right facts and information. The news would never speculate or offer information that wasn't 100 percent true. ... Go read the court documents if you want to know real story, and quit listening to he say she say
You don't need to watch the news for the direct information. The federal indictment is available on-line in pdf format. It's not the news speculating he hanged, electrocuted, drowned, shot and threw a dog to the ground killing it, it was the federal grand jury.
I'm not sayin he did it or not,
No, he's saying he did it.
but at some point you have to analyze situations and make a good logical decision with the input of your own thoughts,
No more analysis needed. He has pled guilty. This is essentially costing him his career, certainly the $22 million sign on bonus, his endorsement contracts, and his name. Do you othink he'd throw that all away if he wasn't, in fact, guilty as charged?
