Mistake on speeding ticket
it won't be thrown out because they have your license plate and they wrote down you driver's license information, so they can ask how did the copper get that information?
anyway, from my experience in getting tix in NC you just get a lawyer and they fix it to a non-moving violation. it costs ~$100-350 depending on the speed and what your record is like, but it keeps it off your record and insurance which is what really costs $$$ in the long run.
good luck!

The record of the tickets given for the day will show that this ticket was between the time of the previous and next ticket. For a moving violation, an administrative error is usually irrelevant. If it had 'Radar used' checked, and your were paced, or some other means, that might be a case for dismissal.
For 11 over, you probably don't need a lawyer, provided you don't have a lot of points/violations on your record. They DA/prosecutor, etc... (depends on state and municipality) should have the authority to reduce to a no-point violation, or even a non-moving violation. Just set a court date, get there early, and talk to the right person. If you don't know, ASK!
Be careful with it, in NJ (don't know your state), THREE no-point violations (Unsafe Operations as its called) in a rolling five year window is an automatic 4 point ticket, and for each one, they get a $250 surcharge. You really pay now for the insurance benefit of a no-point ticket. Instead of a rate hike for insurance, the locals get the extra money up front.
