Default New BMW Z3

I have just seen detailed pictures of the new Z3 in Autocar or Autoexpress and was mighty impressed by its general lines.
I believe that the intention to beef up its engine, chassis, and looks is designed to help it compete with the S2000,SLK,TT, Boxster.

I sadly cannot post the pics as I have no mechanism for doing this but if anyone has seen them perhaps yuo can give an opinion.

I think that if they shrink the wheel and improve the chassis (I am sure they will) then this could be a real competitor to our car.

The only concern is that the market will once again be flooded and all individuality of the car may be lost very quickly.

BoxsterBoy - What do you think?

Sam.

Early reports show much improved styling (IMO), stiffer platform, and improved suspension. A very attractive package.. but you are right, there will be scads of them on the street in no time. It would be nice if they did a little more to differentiate the M visually without driving the price too high.

I don't expect to swap out of my S2000 soon, but the day will probably come and it is nice to have candidates out there.

I agree that the styling is much improved from the current version and BMW has or will beef up its performance oriented features. However, I hope it doesn't go the way of the e46 M3. The new M3 has lost all the subtlety of the e36 M3 with its bulging hood. I much prefer the presentation of the M5.

I think the styling is improved as well, at least in the back. Don't care for the front however- for me those grilles just don't look right. I realize it has become a signiature piece for bimmers, but if they could scrap them for the Z8 why not the Z3 as well?

I'd have to agree with cbj, they really should get rid of those nostrals on the front with the new Z.
The styling is improved as well in my opinion, but looking at William's post above, with the S2k picture right below the Z3 pics, I know where my eyes are going to be looking on the road. Sorry z3

Jay Li,
A good move I think - Sorry about that but I was attempting to ensure that the other Z3 thread wasn't getting too bitchy and unlpeasant. I thought that by having a visible thread to discuss the merits of the Z3 would be a good thing.

Anyway, thanks for moving it,
Sam.
