On a serious note, the article is a bit fluffy.

On a not-so-serious note, let it be known that I shall call my bedroom the Master Bedroom, regardless of what the bulider/realtor calls it.

in my situation, the military will pay u extra for being married, also u get to live off base.
many ppl i know in my age group are either getting married, or thinking off getting married, all for money and finally get a place of their own.

the problem arises 4 to 10 months later when they get fed up of each other and decide to get a divorce.

Man, that's kinda lame - there should probably be a whole separate thread on this. I lived between two military bases, and had another 10 within 2 hours of me. This story plays out wayyyyyy too often.

1. The money you save living on base and not having to support your wife (and her crap) through the base moves would probably make a nice nest egg and/or nice supplement to your post-service scholarship

2. Sure, there's freedom in having your own place, but there's also freedom in having a different girl when it's time. . .especially when you're young.

3. Don't officers eventually get their own housing regardless of marital status?

4. Yeah. . .I agree with you; give 4-10 months (esp. with present deployments). . . and you may not be guaranteed the same rights for divorce as you're guaranteed in some states vs. others.

I have been married for like 6 whole months so I am an expert.

These things have helped immensely........

Separate incomes. We split the bills and each keep the rest. Fine with her, she makes more cash. Fine with me, I make enough to have lots of fun.

Seperate bathrooms. She moved into my house so she just left me the nice master bath and moved her tons of product into the spare down the hall.

And last but not least, a submissive wife. She does not ever seem to object (at least in front of me) of anything I do. I try to do things to let her get what she wants, and if I want something it seems to be fine.

I like to have about 10 to 12 nerds over every couple months to drink beer, LAN HALO2 on about 9 machines scattered around the house, and swear at each other until four in the morning. She just books a hotel room for the night.

Works perfect for me. She also won't speak up about the dog taking up half of her half of the bed. But c'mon, it was the dogs half of the bed first.
