Quitting Smoking
hey goodluck man you're not alone i been trying to quit too, i started young and i'm still rather young. what i did to help me is get the mentality that it tastes bad, i used to not mind the taste but now everytime i puff one its not the same as it used to,just get that idea in your mind till your brain actually believes it. smoking a cig isnt as good for me anymore so its making quit alot easier for me
oh about gums, i never bought nicotine gums but since bad breath is associated with smoking I always used to chew some gum after i smoked to help hide that bad breath and now i buy packs of gum all the time . It probably also helped me chewing gums after smoking because it keeps calm the craving and i guess i got used to having the two together that it made the transfer of just having regular mint gums nothing.

I've been smoking for the past 10 years now. I have tried quitting in the past (longest was for like 6 months) but nothing has stuck. Usually smoke a pack a day and maybe pack and a half on weekends.
don't hang out with your friends who smoke, or you *WILL* start again. if you do hang out, make sure they do not smoke around you. you and they will feel a strange "guilt" or "friendly obligation" to "not be different" and the smoker will unconsciously feel that you are trying to be superior to them, or thoughts to that effect, and you may feel like you are making them uncomfortable. it's an insidious drug, and entirely the nicotine that is doing that.
nicotine acts on the same parts of the brain as the emotions for love, lust, and satisfaction. quitting is like having to give up a reliable, understanding, and generous lover. really. the feelings the first few days are akin to breaking up with a steady girlfriend (of course without the actual pretty face and sexy memories).
