Check the US News and World Report rankings and see if you find any of those schools on your list. It'll cost to see the entire list, but if you really want to know about the academic programs (and not just the social life ) it may be worth it to you. Or someone here may be able to post the undergrad business school list for you.

Good luck and hope you have a great time!

Although it isn't included in your list of schools, Seattle Pacific University, which my daughter will be attending this Fall, has an excellent business school. We visited the campus three weeks ago and it's gorgeous! I believe that 50% - 60% of the tuition goes to pay for the flowers that decorate this beautiful campus.

Another resource for b-school rankings (they need to update these, though) BusinessWeek

From your list, I'd go with UCLA or UC Berkeley if you want both Cali weather AND the prestige factor. UNC-Chapel Hill is another great "fun" school with an excellent graduate business school, as is Indiana. Plus, UNC is in a great college town (Duke is like 10 mins away, making sports rivalry pretty intense). Honestly, as good as the programs are (at any school in the U.S.) there are only a few that get name recognition outside of our borders (i.e. Harvard, Stanford, Wharton - does anyone in Europe, Asia, Australia even know where the Leonard Stern (NYU) school of business is?) .

So, you should really just go wherever you think you'd have the best overall experience. Undergrad is still very much about enjoying the collegiate experience, so if you'd be happier in Boulder Colorado, go for it! I've never been to California, but I'd imagine that college life out there is pretty sweet. If I could do it all over again. . . I'd pick a school out there.

Good luck!

[QUOTE=xpander4,Aug 19 2004, 12:25 PM]University of Miami is a joke....if you want to go business you have to go to a top 20 school, otherwise it starts making much less of a difference.

I currently attend University of Chicago. Its hella expensive, but a very very very well respected univeristy. They are a good business school, although Im pre med. I know its not on your list, but if your considering Urbana, seriously look into U OF C. Its not UIC big big difference. Plus your near the city in probably one of the best campuses around. It has a very vintage feel which is really cool since downtown CHICAGO is 10 mins away.

Im pretty sure that if the uni isn't on the list it wont be accessable through the Aussie uni's transfer program and therefore wont contribute (on paper) towards Queenie's degree

i guess these schools also depends on how much you want to study.. if your school is like UCLA, it's in center of everything with gang of people that want to just party or whatever.. so you'll be distracted alot.. well, for me it would.. i'm from indiana and indiana university bloomington has many foregin exchange students also and campus is very nice.

NYU? Gimme a break. Out of the schools that were listed, the best are going to be UCB, UIUC, UNC-CH, UCLA. The rest of the UC system schools are cow colleges or for community college transfers, do not waste your time... I think IU has a good business school too. The cost of living in either Los Angeles or Berkeley is insane; keep this in mind.

I would suffest visiting a few of these towns and then decide, but the prohibitive cost of travel from OZ might make this impossible.
i would have to say LA is better than Berkeley in the cost of living department. In Berkeley you can rent a shack for $900US a month that you have to share with 3 or 4 other roommates. If you look around however, there are some nicer places. UCLA has much nicer places for the same money than Berkeley. If you're going to live in a dorm however, it'd be up to you.

I see the Bay Area as a more classy enviroment than LA. The weather is cooler and the air quality is much better. LA is viewed as a more partying area, with clubs and beaches.

But I'd still have to go with Berkeley. It is a very different experience than other parts of the world, with a perfect mix of rain and shine, the Golden Gate bridge within a couple of miles, the Bay. If you have a chance to go there I think you should!
