Well, before Daphne and Fred asked the townspeople, and Scooby, Velma, and Shaggy went to go examine the abandoned mine. . .

We pretty much figured out that the OP was on a highway to complaintsville, and most of us were telling him to move on, basically regardless of this woman's actions. Regardless, you don't want to wind up in a situation of paralysis-from-analysis.

Let the woman out of your heart. . .it takes a while the first couple of times. And then, look forward to the prospect of having learned a few lessons, moving on with your life a little wiser for the ware, and meeting some great women.

Then, you can unmask the real culprit and all have a good laugh.
