Social situations: Not knowing what to say
yea, i realize that. but you have to admit that it is kind of unfair to say that any woman who dresses nice is "asking" for men to undress her with their eyes. last time i checked, staring and making people uncomfortable is impolite and everyone should be responsible for keeping their manners in check.
i went tanning the other day and slathered myself with tanning accelerator which happens to smell really strong/fruity. right afterwards i stopped at the bank. a grungy-looking man came in and stood uncomfortably close to me in line. then he started muttering under his breath in this really low creepy voice "sombody smells reeeeeaaaly good" and started making these weird noises.
i immediately tensed up and tried to move as far away from him as possible. luckily, a guy in front of me noticed too and turned around and told the guy "you need to take a few steps back and stay away from her." the tellers asked us if anything was wrong and the guy said "yea, you need to keep this creep away from this girl." the creep just stood there wide-eyed and didn't say a thing.
in this case i did nothing but smell "appealing" (tanning accelerator
) that's the type of shit women have to deal with... so you can imagine why we tend to be on the defense.

again, you can't do much, if anything, about how people behave. sure, it's impolite, etc. but there's very little you can do to change these people, much less society as a whole. the best you can do is to be upfront with these people and politely tell them that they are making you uncomfortable. hopefully, by letting these people know how they are making you feel, they will understand and modify their behavior. other than that, all you can really do is accept the fact that social behavior of society is far from perfect and that you have little to no power to change that. now, yes, life is unfair, especially for women, but letting stuff you have little to no control over bother you just makes your life more difficult and unenjoyable than it needs to be. your peace of mind is something that you DO have control over, and allowing or disallowing others' behaviors to upset you is something you can control.
