Southern California Fires

There was a maditory evacuation, however the winds were calm by then and there wasn't much fuel on the hill since this was a ranch until a few years ago and the cows kept the brush down. Accross the valley was a different story. There was more fuel and the winds seemed to be a little stronger that's why there was more smoke and fire. It all made for a good show, but not much danger by the time I took the pics. These pics were taken in the Rolling Hills Ranch area in East Chula Vista. This was the leading edge of the Harris Fire that started about 25 miles east on Sunday. The Harris fire is now marching north at slow pace toward the town of Jamul.
