And I didn't think that anyone could miss my point: the comment about black cats was a joke.
The question about it being a fact that the other things on your list don't exist wasn't a joke.

My point, in non humorous terms for those that find humor offensive, is that there is no need to prove that things DON'T exist. Only that they do. You have taken the notion that since so many have said these things do exist, that it is up to someone to prove they don't. This is the backward nature of this discussion. There are some people that have undertaken this arduous task of debunking all this. They make a living at it. I am not so inclined to spend my life in that particular La La Land.
Cedric. You might be right. I think he may make this thread disappear!

Here's my belief: humans have a modicum of free-will, granted by the indeterminsm of quantum mechanics. However, 99.9% of human behavior does not require nor involve free-will; most human behavior can be described by a suitably large finite state automaton.

I'm no physicist (I've only done two specific physics courses in university) so perhaps you could explain what you believe in "laymen's" language. "Indeterminism of quantum mechanics": is this a theory or a proven fact? I get the "large finite state automaton" part (I think you're saying that what we do we do by rote or by habit, as opposed to actual free-will decisions - correct me if I'm wrong). Again, I'm just curious about the indeterminism of quantum mechanics phrase.

Also, that belief (as far as I can tell) only deals with the present and future - what about the beginning? How did we get here? What started it all? Do you have any personal beliefs on that as well? How do you explain things like divine healing and other "religous phenomena"?
