So you enjoy a tournament with 100 players entered and watching predominantly one players shots? Even when he is 7 shots out of the lead?
You enjoy watching highlights of Tigers previous shots while he is playing head to head?
You enjoy listening to his deceased father in a commercial tell you that his son (whom he once was quoted as saying would have as great an impact on humanity as Jesus) is the toughest person mentally in the world?
You enjoy watching him grimace in pain (lol) on bad shots but not on good ones? Or watching a man with an excrutiatingly painful knee, drop to both of them when he misses a putt? lol
You like watching him mouth '****' or 'g--damnit' whenever he misses a shot? Will you enjoy watching your son do the same? He is the most fined pro ever in this regard.
You enjoy watching him throw his clubs to the ground in disgust? Will you enjoy watching your child do the same?
You enjoy watching him walk off the green after he putts knowing the gallery will blindly follow him which will disrupt the concentration of his fellow player? (he has been called on this repeatedly by the way)
You enjoy his abismal (sp) record in the Ryder Cup? When by the way he is playing for his country and not himself?
You enjoy his fist pumping and chest beating when he makes a putt? If you were in my 4-some I would drop kick you and if he were your child you would chastise him.
Perhaps you enjoy turning on the golf channel and watching TIger Tuesday or Tiger's top tens or going online and watching every shot Tiger made in the Open?
Or maybe you are driving an Allure just like Tiger does? lol
Or maybe you enjoy knowing on Sunday that if he isn't in the lead, he has never come from behind to win a major?

Tiger is great. Of that there is no doubt. But...he has no great players today to be compared against. He has been crammed down our throats by the media to the point where most golfers I know don't watch golf nearly as much as before, however he is the darling of people who do not golf! I find this ironic.

Oh and by the way...IMHO Tiger won the open for one simple reason, his length off the tee. And his record on the par 5's bears this out.
Brilliant!

do you really feel this strongly about hating tiger? or do you just not have anything better to do?

no, the man's not perfect. are you? just like every other professional sport, pro golf is excited about having someone they can market. someone could probably build a robot that would ace every golf course around the world. it would show no emotion, win every tournament, never get fined. yay. then you'd have someone to pull for.

way to shove a bunch of BS rhetoric down our throats and completely mis-represent what i said. do you really think you are the first one to think up all that crap? if you don't like it, don't watch it.

you should probably get some sleep before you come up with any more arguments though; that last load was barely legible.

lol

This is what I love about this site. You can have an opinion, sprinkle it with a little sarcasm and not only is it respected but others do not feel threatened by it.

You said you liked him and told us why. I told you why I don't.

I remember reading your post and not calling you any names or insulting you...do you always feel this threatened whenever you hear an opposing opinion? Nothing was made up, all of what I said is available for viewing or a matter of historic record.

I even said he was a great pleyer, and alluded to the fact that the media has overhyped him.

Maybe you should calm down. Hero worship is fine but some of us just have more discerning tastes.

"And where the hell did I say I was perfect?"

I am 49.
Unfortunately it seems, just old enough to have seen many legends at the end of their careers, many through their entire great careers and now to watch equipment changes, media dollars and Tigermania, piss any chance we had of an honest comparison all away.

It's all good with you Scot. I am not angry, pissed or anything but smiling. Lil bummed cause I thought we could share opinions a lil more freely but...oh well.

I like this thread. Good debate.

I like Tiger because he looks like a guy I knew years ago named Omari, so when I watch him play it's like it's Omari winning.

He's interesting to watch, but there is validity to the idea that most of the general public would rather watch opposing players or teams that are mediocre but evenly matched, as opposed to a drastic distance between the sides resulting in a blowout. Not very cool when the governing associations make changes that favor one side over the other as well.

hmm...not really sure where i called anyone any names, let me go back and re-read it...

i did say you mis-represented my post. which you did. i also said you spouted a bunch of crap that's been spouted plenty of times before and will continue to be spouted in the future. which you did. if you don't like tiger for all of those reasons, that's fine. i seriously doubt all of your sporting heroes are as perfect as you seem to want tiger to be though.

i don't feel threatened, no. but yeah i think it's a little absurd for everyone to hate tiger like they do, as if all other professional athletes are saints. let me guess, you've never been a barry bonds fan, a roger clemens fan, a fan of any professional football player, etc. i'm not saying all the things you said aren't true; just that you could draw up a list at least that long of any other professional athlete, most would have longer lists.

i still am not sure i completely understand this argument though
Murderers of small children detest me also, I must be anti-evil...
I would hate to run into myself cause I anti-matter...
anyway, i guess i choose to appreciate what tiger can do in spite of him being human. keep in mind, he doesn't control the course lengths, or the camera angles.

we'll agree to disagree. deal?

I am old enough to remember when our dollar was always worth more than yours and nobody would take them over here.
I am also old enough to realize that our two countries need each other and will continue to need each other more in the future than at any other time in history. We've fricking blown it soooooo bad.....
So howdy cousin!
