Tongue ring on girls...
I find subtle tattoos/piercings the most attractive.
Sounds a little ironic especially since usually they are a sign of expression but I find tats and piercings that have are small, personalized, and tasteful are a bigger turn-on.
Ex:
Large body tattoos...scary.
Small symbolic tat on hip, rear, nape of back, ankle, shoulder...sexy
Dangly piercings from the nose to the ear to the lip...too goth.
Belly button ring, small stud on the nose, even in this case a nice tongue ring...double take.

I don't think tattoo aftercare is all *that* bad...normally you just need to put some antibiotic ointment on it for the first week or two and that's it. Tattoos do fade quicker if exposed to sunlight, but when you first get it, I don't believe that's as big of a concern, because the top layer of skin is going to peel off anyway.
The only truly annoying part about getting a tattoo, IMO, is the insane itching that follows about a week afterwards. You just want to go nuts and scratch the hell out of it!

How to Care For Your New Tattoo
The life of your tattoo is dependent upon the care it receives within the first few days... it takes about two weeks to heal, and two more weeks to settle in.
Keep your tattoo bandaged from 2 to 10 hours. Remove gauze and wash tattoo gently with cool, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly, lightly pat dry with a clean towel.
DO NOT re-bandage your tattoo
DO NOT use Vaseline or petroleum jelly
DO NOT use alcohol or peroxide
DO NOT pick or scratch tattoo
DO NOT soak tattoo in tub or shower- get in, get clean, get out!
Stay out of pools, hot tubs, oceans, etc. for two weeks
Keep tattoo out of direct sunlight and/or tanning beds

If you're not getting colours then I suppose the sunlight isn't such an issue but I really think that with something and permanent as a tattoo too much care is just enough.
