another V1 fan.

The Direction Arrows, Bogey Counter, and cheap-to-upgrade-for-life factor of the Valentine 1 should make that a no brainer. The V1 you purchase today can be the same V1 you use 30 years from now

One thing to remember with any radar detector: Know your environment and control yourself. If there is a Best Buy next to the interstate and as you pass it your RD goes off, that means Best Buy has automatic opening doors or a strong alarm system shooting off either X or K band - some even use Laser . Because of the automatic doors know that you will get a RD tone around almost every shopping center, and know that some cops take advantage of this - so having that Bogey counter could save you there. Some houses have certain burglar alarm systems that may set off your RD. You just have to be aware of what is going on around you when you hear the RD tone(s).

Also know that warnings for Instant-On and Pop are only going to get to you if there is traffic up ahead. If you're the only car on the street, your Radar detector is just telling you to pull over. Laser - ha - maybe you'll get lucky and pick up a beam before the cop gets your reading.

Control yourself: In Virginia RD's are illegal so when cops turn on their radar they watch for brake lights, then pull you over and ask where the RD is. I have heard that in other states a cop will be more harsh on you if you are pulled and have a radar detector.

Since I got my RD I have learned that most local police are running radar all the time (even while moving). The only time a state trooper's isn't on is when he has someone pulled over. I have a suspicion that state troopers (around here) are using more Instant-On than regular radar because I get strong blips when approaching a state trooper in traffic.

Buy the V1 - it sounds like it could save you from a DUI as well ....until you get your next paycheck.

V1 > 8500. Arrows make the difference. You can catch cops way behind you sneaking up and you can tell when you have passed a cop sitting on the side of the road and it is safe to speed up again.

The quickest hardwire point is the radio power; pull the unit out run the cable under the dash and up into and out of a pillar cover.

I prefer the visor mount.
