I have the V1 also and it works as advertised. Had the Passport 8500 before and got rid of it. The arrows at least give some clue as to where to look to find the police.

I got mine after a very expensive ticket. It works great and has saved me a number of time! Well worth the money.

nissanz,

That's what I thought at first.
at first you will slow down for almost every warning, but once u become accustomed to all the alerts, you will get good at filtering them and become an expert. But say you get a consistent signal that doesn't really incr or decr in stregnth and not a cop to be seen in sight. This likely happens when the source is traveling with u along your direction. You don't know if he's in front or behind. In a normal (passport 8500) u will just assume the source is around somewhere but don't know where. with the Valentine, it can tell you if the source is in front or behind you so you can look out. say the source is not in visible sight but behind, u could prolly just gun it and be on your way instead of being paranoid and looking around.

Per the request of the thread starter....(SilverKnight)

This is the V1 mounted underneath the rearview mirror.

Install was VERY EASY.... here's were to run the wire. Push in gently with a flat head screwdriver..

Wire connection goes here.

ENJOY!!

You know they have a program where you can go to their website, enter your serial number and they will give you a list of improvements they have made to the V1 and for a price they will modify yours to be up-to-date.
Yep, I'm aware of the upgrade offer that V1 has, but my V1 still works great, so why mess with it if it ain't broke?

Oh, just FYI for everyone I also have an 8500. The 8500 is a good detector, but it's make of plastic. For long-term durability, the V1 is going to be better as it has a magnesium case and I've dropped it countless times by accident and it's still solid as a rock.

I had the 8500 in my pickup truck and the V1 in my Vette for the real speeding that occurs there.

I was in this same situation about 6 months ago - whether or not to pick up a Radar Dtector & which one to go with.
In the state of Virginia radar detectors are illegal - so one that is non-detectable was a must!

My toss up finally came down to Valentine V1 versus Passport 8500 X50. The arrors and concealed display of the V1 were definitely a HUGE bonus. However all in all I decided to go with the X50 for financial reasons. When the detector goes off I don't really care whether it is infront, behind or beside me - I slow down!

yeah, the arrows r nice feature, and I think many would say the valentine is preferable, but is it worth the difference betw $300 and $400? $300 already sounds huge.
