supposed to be.. but I haven't seen one yet I think it would be impractical in here because without radar or laser detector, those devices may not work. which we have detector for.

cheers,

There are some in use but there have been a number of legal challenges that thankfully have slowed deployment.

When first introduced in some areas years ago there was also a problem with them being damaged by bullets and such. They may be hardened now.

I believe what your referring to is a timing device that is normally used from a aircraft. You can beat that in most states by watching for the "timing-lines" painted on the roads perpendicular to your direction. By changing lanes anywhere in between the (2) timing-lines (required for a reading) the reading will be voided. Do so only in light traffic of course.

A radar detector is only as good as its operator. READ the manual carefully. Nothing can save you from "intant-on" except maybe a V1 picking him up shooting another target from up to 2.5 miles away. No other detector will come remotely close. The biggest threat to a saavy radar-det user is the officer with no detector--- armed with only a speedometer and his word against yours. Watch-out!

Car & Driver test on ALL the most popular detectors rated V1 with a top-score of 98 out of a possible 100! Second and third place went to Bell and Passport with a misely 50+ and 40+ scores. The next day I bought a V1 via next-day-air. What a difference (because I already had the other two). I gave them away! Also the only unit made that could drive through a gauntlet of VG1's and remain undetected.

I use the V1 -hard wired- with the concealment mode mounted in front of my speedo. Not only does it look cool but is easiest to read mounted there. Although legal in most states the good ol' boys still don't like them. At night if your out and he pulls behind at a light he will probably see those radar lights and give another excuse to hassle you.

Mount the unit up against the rr view mirror just to the left of it (let it touch). If you want to conceal the detector from Mr. Law looking in the front window, add a tint strip just deep enough to cover the mount but not the detector lens. I dare you to walk around my car and play cop and see if you would notice it under any circumstances. Pretend your writting a ticket with your head in my window. You can't see it unless you sit on the ground and look up.

Always hard-wire your units because most tickets occur within a few miles of your house where your most comfortable and most likely NOT to havew your unit turned on. When I turn the key that baby is on, always!

I hope this helps,

Dave

A Cop friend (new oxymoron?) offered to test my V1 a while back with his new instant on Laser. I was able to pick up his stray light way before he was able to detect my speed.

Just hope that there is traffic in front of you.

Laser is only 4 feet wide at 1000 meters! Unless he pointed it directly at your radar detector (hard to do) your detector will not go off. Simple as that, and if it did go off, it means you're screwed, no warning with laser. It's the most dangerous technology out right now for us.

Also, I put in my V1 yesterday and love it so far. It has already saved me once, but so did my old detector, so I'm not overly impressed so far but I love the features!

I've been saved from both laser and instant-on traps with the V1, as well as hundreds of other traps. I know someone's going to say that's impossible, so let me preclude that by saying: 'bite me.'

There is really no good reason not to have one in your s2000.
