ChrisD, I did basically the same installation Sime did, but chose another option for the remote. It is under the right side of the dash, directly under the HVAC controls. Used some velcro on the top of the remote to hang it from the bottom edge of the dash. The upper left edge of the radio door just clears the remote when opening or closing the door. This location is covert and easy to read, but it lacks the direct line of sight advantage that Sime's has. Just another option. Good luck.
I just answered the "V1 Mounting" question on a previous post! Here it is AGAIN.
Mount the unit up against the rr view mirror just to the left of it (let it touch). If you want to conceal the detector from Mr. Law looking in the front window, add a tint strip just deep enough to cover the mount but not the detector lens. I dare you to walk around my car and play cop and see if you would notice it under any circumstances. Pretend your writting a ticket with your head in my window. You can't see it unless you sit on the ground and look up.
Always hard-wire your units because most tickets occur within a few miles of your house where your most comfortable and most likely NOT to havew your unit turned on. When I turn the key that baby is on, always!
I hope this helps,
Dave
Conflicting what someone else just said you should mount it to the left of the rr mirror not the right. By mounting ANY detector closer to the drivers side you make it next to impossible to see when Mr. Law pokes his head in your window. Try it and you'll see what I mean. The further to right the easier it is to see by those you don't want to.
Mount the "concealment mode" velcroed to your speedo base directly in front of the speedo. The only thing it will block is one or two idiot lights. It looks very cool too and passengers will usually comment, "What's that neeto thing"?
As for saving $399 and having an attorney in your back pocket. Good Luck! Can I borrow your S2K as a second car while your in jail? Habitual offenders may find they have no car and no freedom. Plently of lawyer friends but preventative measures are the only smart choice.

Note that the old-old technology passports (when Valentine was still with them) looked like the size of a thick book but would pick-up twice as far as any new Bel Or Passport made today.
Good luck with whatever unit you may decide to buy but read-read-read the instruction book so you may learn how to analyize the different situations. This is what most people overlook.

Anyway, everycop that I have SEEN seems to be using X-band on the Parkway. Can this be true? Anyone else from NJ knows more?
Is there a database online that documents which police dept (township, state) bought what type of Radar/Laser device? That would be a fantastic tool in filtering out the false alarms.
I ask the same question because I get no answer. Is there any documented test where the V1 beats out the "8500"?At present, I don't have either so my question is sincere. If I don't get it this time ,I will give up and
not bother anyone.thanks-stewart

On my way back to Baltimore from Lime Rock a few weeks ago, I came down the GSP for a stretch from the New York border to Exit 11 of the NTP. My V1 alerted me about 4 or 5 times and they all were X-band.
