Let Trump build the tallest building in the world. It must be bigger. He can even call it Trumptown if his enormous ego requires it. Make it outrageous in its sheer scale. Make it say "we are the f*cking United States of America. We are the greatest country in the world. We are New York City." And of course a wonderful memorial.

>>>i'd expect there to be insurance on the buildings...<<<

Only one is fully insured!!!

It was thought that the chances of BOTH being destroyed at the same time was very unlikely. Insurance companies also get ansy (understatement) about the phrase act-of-war. But in that case others (all of us through the Govt) will help out.

eventhough i don't think it will be rebuilt cause of the bleeding heart liberals, i think it should...WTC is what america symbolized...industrial strength, commercial power, foreign interest, landmark. by letting it remain destroyed the terrorists have already acheived a small victory...

it can be rebuilt with newer technology to be able to with stand a similar hit...build it bigger, taller, wider, stronger to show these people that they can knock us down but we'll get right back up. the demise of the building was it's inability to deal with the heat from the airplane fuel.

it just has to be put back up...it has to be up there to show these people that we are strong and not afraid of these people. i would hate to drive by for the rest of my life and see nothing there. or walk by and not be intimidated by the majesty of these two huge buildings side by side...i can't deal with a little park there...if anyone is familiar with the area there is already a park there (battery park) so it would make no sense to put up another one...if you've never been there in person you might say don't put it up again but if you're used to seeing it everyday you think it has to be put back up...

my 2 cents

Bleeding heart liberal, that's me. I say rebuild them - taller, stronger and more beautiful. The only thing I'm unsure of is whether we should start rebuilding before or after we exact a terrible price from those who organized, aided, abetted, supported, or financed this atrocity and the other terrorist atrocities against us.

I'd like to think that the new Trade Towers and other buildings will stand over a landscape which does not include terrorist supporting governments in Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan ...

A spokesperson for the realestate company that recently signed a 99 year lease agreement for the building, stated that the building was insured against terrorist attacks and that it would be rebuilt.

The building was insured against terrorist attack by the leasee. Also the building was built/owned by the NYNJ Port Authority, a regional government agency. Assuming they do rebuild (they said they would), it would likely be a combination. The simple fact that this was an attack on a symbol of capitalism should push us to rebuild bigger than it was; a defiant statement that capitalism is not just one building.

One comment on the weapons of mass destruction arguement. The Feds are trying to figure out if the planes were weapons of mass destruction because of the amount of fuel. The buildings themselves were the ultimate weapon of destruction. The amount of energy released and ultimate destruction caused by the collapse of the buildings was that of a small grade nuclear weapon.

A WSJ article on the subject (mainly the owner's resolve to rebuild):

I agree with s2kRob.

The best way to fight the evil cowards is to rebuild the WTC with 3 towers each taller than the last. The United States can regain our momentum by rebuilding bigger and better than ever.
If I thought there was any way I could wipe out just one terrorist and save innocent lives, but loose my life....I would do it in a second.
Right now the only way I can fight is to support the United States. It is obvious that the cowards wanted to cripple our economy and our will. The only way I can fight is to support our economy.

I plan to BUY stock on monday rather than sell. I hope all of you who can will fight with me, and don't bow to the fear of evil.

Be strong Americans, dont let us down!
