It may be "outdated" in the sense its not as modern as what's in the stores now, but a suit is a suit. As long as you pick a conservative cut and something that isn't too trendy or flamboyant, you'll be fine.

People going to work in the corporate environment will rarely wear anything that hit milan this season(unless you are working in fashion). Its usually too edgy and "up and coming."

And as I stated above you can get excellent quality shirts and slacks for a lot less than what you'd pay in a dept store. I do mix my wardrobe up with the occasional current season styles but if you have a good base of classic clothing, you don't need to drop large amounts of money year over year. Good quality stuff lasts, and as long as you have decent tastes, so will the styles. A nice oxford from polo or a crisp white polo dress shirt will never go out of style for example.

Oh and one more tidbit. Don't buy anything pleated. No matter what anyone says. Pleats are out and are going to be out for quite some time if not forever. Stick to clean modern cuts, boot cuts, straight legs, and flat fronts. Also don't do anything tapered.... hehe.

What kind of jacket/sportcoat do you wear with light pants and a black shirt, both striped?
none. If you wear a light jacket you will look like a 80's Miami Vice reject. If you wear a dark jacket with light pants and a dark shirt you will look retarded. And if you wear a pattern you will look like Herb Tarlick from WKRP.

Combining stripes is risky. Find a different partner for each garment than pairing them.

Regardless, fashion here is always a step or 5 behind Europe. Who cares unless you're Justin Timberlake?

Mario's 3:10, Nordstrom Rack... I use to shop at Macy's, Bachrach, etc... but got to use to very nice clothing, now nothing ever fits quite the same, so I stick to buying less - but better fitting clothing. I think more people would be apt to buy more expensive clothes if they owned one or two pieces in the first place.... it's tough to justify when you don't realize the difference in quality and fit, or haven't heard compliments from people.

I pick up accessories anywhere though, scarfs, hats, ties etc... when paired with nice main pieces, they all look good.

werd.

once you buy your first prada, canali or etro suit, you'll think that gap is the space between your teeth.

style is one of those things that you either have or you don't....there's no in-between.

The coffee you drink every morning doesn't care how much you spent on your suit
