No, the U.S. doesn't need to educate people on personal finance. The people know, they obviously just don't care. Stealing my money to try and teach some idiot living pay check to pay check that he would be better off saving some money instead of buying a new iPhone and rims for his car is not the answer. The jackass knows, he'd just rather have the newest gadgets and project the image that he has money.
blueteeth, puffy jackets, gold teeth, ps3, xbox360 ftw!!!!

- hells ya

i don't think the OP was discussing idiots wasting their $ as much as he was discussing greedy rich people being greedy...

What is the reward in having $100M vs. having 50M? or $500M vs $1B...

You really have a hard time spending it so why bust your ass to make that additional $$$$$? Why not let the next guy have a shot at it and sit back and enjoy your original $50M?

Who's stopping you from making your 50M?

Definitely not the other guys making 50M. It's not as if there is a limited number of rich people and no one else can be rich until one of them dies or retires.

Quit complaining and start doing.

The question is "why do rich people want to keep making money".

So a person has so much $ that they cannot possibly spend it all......so why have all the aggrevation / stress just to have even more $ that you are unable to spend.

That is the subject..... the only answer I can come up with is greed and perceived status / power.

this has nothing to do with me or how much money i am making,etc.... I wish i was worth $50M.. .... if i was, i sure as hell wouldn't be busting my hump to try to get to $75M! I would probably be at the track a fair amount.

Would you rather earn $5 an hour and keep $4, or earn $100 an hour and keep $5?
I'd rather keep the entire $5 or $100, and the only tax I'd pay is when I purchase something (IE the fair tax as explained/promoted by Linder & Boortz).

As far as leaving X amount of money to my heirs (or anyone/else/thing) that I want to do, that CHOICE is mine, not the governments, not yours.

.. or because they want something to do. I'll be the first to admit that I got bored of trips to the port in my lambo to sit on my yacht, sip $5,000 bottles of champagne, and make love to my extremely hot gold digging girl friend.. granted, it took awhile, but it happened.

And I KNEW you bought a puffy jacket and gold teeth with the profits from your NSX sale.

What else are they going to do? Seriously. For many of them - most, perhaps - making money is the only thing they know how to do.

It's better than having them hang around in front of liquor stores all day.
