why do rich people want to keep making money

this is precisely the reason why you're not worth $50Mil. People who make $50Mil don't think like that.
I'm not knocking your work ethics, I know I will never going to make $50Mil. It's not just that I lack the ability, it's also I lack the will. I know that when I reach $10mil or so (if that day ever comes, as if), I'll slow wayyyyyyyyyyyyy down and be a lazy bum.
btw, it's aggravation (yes, Magician is in this thread. Yes, I'm a ahole)

how do you know I am not worth $50M?

Magician's answer is the most correct to the op ? They only know how to make money. The guy whose McLaren I rode in is worth a ton, but he still works 80 hours per week or he gets bored. Its his way of life. I've just been off 5 days and can't wait to get back to my 70 hour work week.
I do have a friend that did stop though. He is wealthy and his money works for him. He spends his life sailing around the world with his family. I guarantee though his net worth increases yearly instead of his spending all the proceeds be earns. That's how the rich stay rich.
i agree, some people only know how to make money and work hard. both my brothers did the ibank -> vc route. and they hate idle time. at first they hated working, but now they dont feel complete without it.
personally, i plan on working till 35, if i am on track to being able to afford to buy the golden state warriors, meaning 30 million, then i will keep on working. otherwise, i will go into semi retirement in south america or south east asia order nba league pass and live like a king.

i have faith in the US economy...it just means folks in the US need to make more money faster. with the US dollar being so worthless as is, the european tourists have already began flooding the US. i know this because i live in san francisco on filmore street, and whenver i walk around i dont even hear english anymore, its all french, german, euro talk. this observation is even more pronounced on my days off when all the americans are working, the streets are covered in europeans, and literally no english is spoken on the streets, however i will note there is also a large influx of male capris being worn. in my neighborhood it means ur gay or euro..slowly but surely the trade deficit will go down and my salary will rise. i hope...
"why do rich people want to make more money?"
rich as defined as???
if it is defined as CEO's of large banks then i'd say the reason they keep making money is because:
1. it's their job and what they've aspired to do --> progression
2. they like things --> more things
3. they like power --> more power
4. the have to maintain an image.
5. they'd be bored doing anything else.
i don't think it is always a conscious decision to be more "rich" but rather it just continues their progression of work.
as for taxing the rich more than others, i really don't know.
i do find it disgusting that there are homeless men and women in America on one end of the spectrum while on the other end there are people with more money then they'll ever need. it doesn't seem right.
however, i don't think it is right to over tax the "rich" either.
i guess it boils down to who i feel sorry for most.
in the end, you should live with no wants and desires as they cause suffering.... but
c'mon
seriously.
