dat boi, you have to realize that "race" isn't determined by region, location, or which continent somebody's ancestors are from. It's a social/political term.

And for what it's worth, Eruope IS a continent - "continent" isn't a geological term. It just happens that Europe and Asia both are on the Eurasian tectonic plate.

Lets take a trip back to high school, because clearly some of you never went.

Geology 101. "Continent" is a geological term!

There are 7 continents on the round, and not flat, planet we call "Earth"

Count them:

PS. I don't know why Australia and North America are the same color...

Definition of Continent, taken from dictionary.com.

Read #4, is that just coincidence or what!

1. one of the main landmasses of the globe, usually reckoned as seven in number (Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia, and Antarctica).

2. a comparable landmass on another planet.

3. the mainland, as distinguished from islands or peninsulas.

4. the Continent, the mainland of Europe, as distinguished from the British Isles.

5. a continuous tract or extent, as of land.
Whatever continent you were born in is what you are technically. American, Asian, European, African, Australian, etc.

However, politically and racially, you are not! Arabs would be called Middle Eastern from a race or political viewpoint. Geographically they would be called Asian. This is not always the case, like Canadians...

It's all technicalities and semantics at this point.

We just don't use this in day-to-day conversation. Today, the word Asian is almost always used to describe Orientals. I'm sure Yellow_S could fill you in on this LOL (j/k)

So are you saying England isn't part of Europe?

Here's an interesting tidbit - the border between Europe and Asia has been a political debate from time to time. There's no geologic basis for the distinction. Some nations, such as Russia and Japan, do not distinguish between Europe and Asia in terms of "continents."

Another fun tidbit - the term "Caucasian" comes from a fascination a long time ago Europeans had for people living in/near the Caucasus mountains (think Georgia, the one that fought Russia recently) and that area is partly in Europe and partly in Asia - so people who consider themselves "Caucasian" can rightly claim to be Asian as well.

A friend of mine was born in Russia - Siberia, in fact, just a couple hundred miles from both Mongolia and China. I like to tease her about being Asian but she doesn't like that.

I understand that. But your culture does depend on what region you live in. Europe is a region different from Asia, just like South East Asia is different from Middle East, or East Asia. But technically it is all Asia. So geographically Indians and Pakistanis are Asian. And since there is Asia and Europe is just 1 land mass ( there are no major separations between Europe and Asia), geographically, Europe is also Asia no matter what your elementary school teacher told you

And don't quote dictionary.com, not a very reliable site to source information from.

Here's the definition from Merriam Webster:
