And let's drop the spyware crap, that is a user issue, not a problem caused by the computers design.
with MOST of what you said , but take exception to this.It IS a design issue... a software issue.. and a hardware issue . If Windows wasn't such a porous environment the average user would not have issues with spyware and hardware/software...to me that makes it a design issue.
Lets face it not everyone who uses a computer is an expert on how it runs and how to RTFM
this in turn makes it a design issue

so far, i've only figured out how to access my PC from the mac, and not the other way around. but if i need files i can just drag and drop from the PC, or drag and drop into the PC from my computer.
You have to go into Networks under "System Preferences" and allow windows networking... after that, the way that you log on from a Windows computer is by using a log-on with a user name on the G4..
The computer will have an assigned address.. the name of the user is the "short name" that you assigned for it when you created the user.
FOR EXAMPLE:
//192.168.1.5\johndoe
Password: user password on the mac.
here's a thread on it: Networking from Windows...
here's another one...
and one more...

Those big, hot processors loaded with self-correcting errors just are slowing themselves down.
