Why would my internet slow down?
Could be many reasons, most associated with your service provider.
Assuming there have been no changes on your computer, it is most likely some problem or excess traffic at your service provider. I always go to www.dslreports.com - they have a bandwidth checking tool that will tell you your upload and download speeds.
Take this with a grain of salt though. Run the tool several times at different times over several days. If you get consistently slow reports (significantly slower than what your provider advertises) contact them and mention your problem.
Also, sometimes traffic at a particular website may be slower. If other websites open with a faster speed, the problem may be at the website and nothing to do with your computer or provider.

Keep in mind that many providers spec their upload and dowload speeds in Kbps (Kilobits/Sec), while most dowload utilities and tools spec in KBps (KiloBytes/Sec).
8 Kbps (bits) = 1 KBps (Bytes)
