not sure what you are trying to do.. but let me guess. you are trying to hyperlink and not necessarily use imbedded OLE (object linking and embedding) controls?

is the hyperlink local to your system - c:docu~1usernamedesktopblah.xls ? or how is it linked exactly?

Yes it is local to my system. Let me try to explain a little better. I have a Memo on Word with numbers and figures. After I quote a percentage I will say (See Figure 1). I am trying to Hyperlink (See Figure 1) to an Excel file for the accompanying numbers and graph. What I would like to do? Zip the files for an email while still being able to hyperlink from Word to Excel. Not sure if I cleared the confusion up from the first post but I hope this helps. Oh, I am able to hyperlink when on my CPU, but when I emailed it to my laptop I would not open. I guess It was trying to read my desktop C:/ drive. Thanks for taking the time to help...I cant thank you enough.

I am far from being an expert on this, but I think the easiest thing for you to do, would be to combine the files together in a "binder". If you are using MS Office, you should have the ability to save word and excel files together as on document in a binder. I think that this would mean that the relative paths for the hyperlink would stay the same........

As I said, I am not great at this stuff and someone else may be able to give you a better description I hope
