Even if I was rich beyond my wildest dreams I can't see spending more money for the same service. With my limited and decreasing amount of hair, I should be getting discounted anyway, less to work with, less to do. I have been to "stylists" and got basically the same haircut and beard trim that I got at the barber for 1/3 the price. Ambience of the shop doesn't rate the dollars.

You'll be surprised at California. People will pay 150.00 for a pair of jeans, in my eyes is ludicrous, while I pay for a 25.00 pair of jeans. But then for the $$$ Folks, they feel as if 25.00 is a reject, while us poor folks feels 150.00 is crazy. But is the pair of 150.00 better than the 25.00, sometimes, and sometimes not. Some people pay to be exclusive. Personally for me, I deal with many people each day, and I love to use discounts at restuarants, coupons, but once in a while, I say screw it, I'm going to an expensive place for some peace and quiet. (Now I'm doing it often). As I get older, I hate to wait in line and bump elbows.
I think its ok, for people to go to different places and pay different prices. Some people like 100K cars, while some like 10K cars. Some people head out to 200.00 steakhouse, and some eat at mcdonald's. Makes no difference. There are to many types of people out there, and each type of different social class will cater to the different stores.

I have yet to find a pair of jeans that are 6X better than my Levi's. Food on the other hand is different, I don't have a problem with going out for fine dining, but I don't want to be hungry when I leave. No miniscule amounts of food with artfully drizzled sauce on it. But no McDonalds for me either.
But to me a haircut is a haircut, and bluejeans are bluejeans, eventhough the only brand I wear are Levi's 505's.

I've been the victim of discrimination because of my apparel in "high-end" stores, my scruffy appearance beilies the amount I am willing and able to spend, apparently. I have fun doing this, and the more "experienced" salespeople send me the "rookie" who ends up with a sale, and a returning client.
I agree with the personal preference thing, and that's why I will spend more for my Hawaiian shirts, to have the pattern match across the buttons, and inside the pocket.
BTW I want an old BMW anyway.
