Changing Break-In Oil
I posted this in the "under the hood forum" and the answers aren't as clear as I hoped.
I've been searching the forums looking for break in advice but had a specific question about the break in oil.
In the manual it states that the first oil change should be done according to the schedule listed in the manual. Looks like most people are changing it out around 3700 miles or so. I know that the break in oil seems to have high moly to help break in and during those 3700 you should use good quality 10w30 to keep it filled.
My question is whether time also is a factor. The manual states that for hard driving that the oil change would be for 3750miles or 6 months.
I bought my new 2004 in february of 2005. Looking at the documentation it looks like the car got to the dealership last year around july, august or maybe even earlier. Since bought it recently I only have around 1000 miles on it... but it has been over six months since the car got to the dealership.
Should I change out the break in oil for normal 10w30? How about the oil filter? Is time a factor for break in oil or just should I wait till I get to 3750 regardless

i asked some similar questions about the break-in oil, although in my case, time was not a factor. my opinion would be to leave it in, but i'd ask the experts.
i did post a similar question here though... a bit different scenario though.
good luck! hope to see you around soon!
