Default Please help , got paint on the S

Here's the story.... The HOA is painting the houses, and garages. While i was gone for the weekend, my girlfriend opened the garage door , and paint dripped onto the rear portion of my car. She then attempted to clean it up with water and a rag. Now my car has a film of paint residue streaked all over it. Any suggestions on how to clean this up , or somewhere i can take it to?

soak a rag in isopropyl alcohol and try that first. If not try a clay bar.

Do this quickly and don't leave your car in the sun.

Thanks for the suggestions. The clay bar seemed promising, however was totally ineffective. Any other suggestions ? I don't know how much longer i can live like this

have you tried acetone or something? it shouldn't harm the auto paint since its a very different kind of paint, but i'd start by fidning out exactly what brand/kind of paint it is, and then go to Home Depot, and purchase a thinner for that paint. I don't know of many home-paint thinners that will harm automotive paint... it WILL take off the wax though, so be sure to re-seal the area afterwards.... but test out the thinner on an inconspicuous area to make sure it won't harm your paint, and then carefully clean off the house paint, and get it off the car asap.

If it helps ease your mind any, i've used all sorts of acetone, brake cleaner, alcohol mixtures, etc on my paint and have had no problems with it harming the paint. In fact, MANY oem stick-on parts come with a acetone-wipe to clean the paint and remove wax/crap so that the adhesive will stick...

But find out what you're dealing with, then find out what will thin/disolve it, and then you'll know whether it can hurt your paint.

If no of the chemical fix work, buy 1200 wet sand paper from a local auto paint supplier. wet sand the area and buff. you're good to go...
