I just thought I call out that Alfonso's car is still getting mileage. If you go http://www.pacificgp.com his car shows up in the slideshow for "Car Lapping". Pretty cool Alfy.
Awesome!!

I got a phone call from the "total loss" department yesterday, so the car is officially done-zo. They informed me of the value of the car and how I can collect my money. I also asked about buying it back, so I'll see if that's going to work out for me; supposed to hear back early next week.

What value are they giving you for the car? Is it NADA or KBB? And I'm assuming the aftermarket parts add zero value right?

They are giving me some hybrid value apparently because the NADA value is like $4k below the KBB value. They valued the car at $18.1k and tacked on some money for tax/registration so the grand total was $20k. However, because liability hasn't been determined yet, I'm only getting $19.5k ...which is stupid because there was no way this was my fault. Whatever.

I checked out my first "replacement" today. Let's just say I wish my car hadn't been wrecked. Looking for a car is such a PITA.
