i believe the high spoiler required more holes than the lip spoiler...might be better off trading trunk lids...

Same number of holes, you'll have to drill 2 additional across the back of the trunk lid for the ducktail. I think the ducktail will cover the wing spoiler's holes, but I'm not sure if the 2 outermost holes for the ducktail will line up with your existing holes.

Thank you for that so you think if I drill 2 additional holes for the ducktail it should work??

I'm pretty sure the ducktail will cover up the existing holes, you'll still have to determine if the existing holes line up with the outer studs. You'll also need to have something to seal up the unused holes to prevent leaks. Then two additional holes for the middle bolts.

I'm actually trying to do the opposite and remove a bmwchop ducktail and replace with OEM.

I don't suppose you can post a pick of the inside of the trunk so I can see the holes? My current spoiler is held in with 3M so I can't advise on hole coverage I'm afraid.

Both installation instructions for the low (AP1) and high (AP2) spoiler mention the need to drill four trunk holes. Unfortunately, only two of the four holes are shared by the two spoilers.

Here are the hole locations for the AP1 and AP2 spoilers per H and A.

AP1 spoiler install instructions

AP2 spoiler install instructions

Independent of which OEM spoiler option you currently have, if you switch to the other OEM spoiler, you will have two exposed holes (assuming you had originally drilled all four holes per the instructions).

This topic was brought up several years ago.

Will AP1 Lip Spoiler cover holes from AP2 wing

I did this and it did not cover the two holes closest to the window, plugged it with round pieces of red vinyl, plugged it well even tho you can see the outline of the vinyl
