Default Tonneau fasteners

I recently purchased a 2000 S2k in excellent condition. 84000 miles, clean as can be and drives great. It has 17" wheels, new top with glass and a few other upgrades from the original 2000. I have a chance of getting a tonneau cover for pretty cheap and I noticed that I am missing the Tenax fastener on the driver side and all 4 along the back. The one on the passenger side is still on so I know getting a replacement and installing it is not a problem. Can anyone tell me if the snaps along the back are the same type of fasteners as the side? Is it difficult to remove the back piece to install the fasteners? Are the snaps necessary? Not looking for a debate on putting the cover on and off just want some help on if 2-4 snaps on back are really necessary to hold cover in place.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I just looked more closely and it looks like it is very tough to get the piece off where the 4 snaps install into. So my question is- Would the cover work without snapping the 2-4 snaps along the back and work with only connecting the 2 side connectors?
Thanks

You should be ok with just the two side snaps.

I bet the rears were removed so the new top can fold down all the way.

Thanks. I appreciate the help. I have a replacement Tenax on the way for the one missing on the drivers side. I did see I could reach two of the back ones thru the trunk but I am guessing you are correct. I will try with just the sides.
