Default Accessing Rear Shock Top Mounts on 2006 AP2?????

Hello,

My friend said that if I take off the panels in the trunk to the left and the right of the spare tire, I can check the top bushing and bolts on top of the rear shock towers. I have done this and I see nothing!

It seems to me that the top of the rear shock towers are underneath the convertible top mechanism.

I would really like to rule this area out as a cause of the phantom "clunk" that I hear on an occasional to regular basis.

thank you
Louis

What panels did you remove?

The shock mounts are very easily seen once you remove the spare tire panel, spare tire, and left side trunk trim.

Easiest way to get a wrench on the left side is to remove the rear strut bar.

I doubt a bushing bolt is loose. You'd hear a rattle on pretty much any bump. A clunk is usually something else. But I guess its worth a check.

Checking your endlinks is worthwhile. By that, I mean disconnect one of them and go on a test drive.

Yes, removing trunk panels and you can get to the too shock mount NUTS. However to inspect the upper bushings themselves you'd need to remove the whole shock from the car.

The shock bushings though pretty much last forever, so doubtful its that.
