OEM vs. Stainless Steel Brake Lines

I just ordered a set of StopTech lines from RockAuto, $93.50 shipped, after a 5% discount code!

I was considering SS lines for my car when I got it I couple of years ago and I was going thru the 15 year old car replacing all the bits that needed to be changed (tires, oil, trans fluid, clutch fluid, filters, coolant, etc.). After reading a good deal, I came to the same conclusions stated in that video above. I decided that my OEM lines are just fine and that there is no need or good reason to change them. I drive on the street only. I also concluded that if I ever do change my lines, I'll be using OEM replacements.

If you're not tracking it, there's not much point to it. If you're already rebuilding or replacing the calipers or the OEM hoses are cracking anyways, now is a good time to upgrade them as well. Usually a fresh bleed gets brakes to feeling great again.

If you're doing anything other than cruising streets, I would recommend replacing the OEM with SS lines as a peace of mind. It doesn't take track debris to make the OEM units fail.
