Thumbs up 06 OEM radio in 00 S2k

I have the opportunity to get a OEM 06 head unit for a great price. The only reason I am considering it is that it has XM and my 00 doesn't. It is just the head unit only and I two questions about this unit:

1. Will it be a direct fit? (no modding to the wiring harness)

2. What will I need to make the XM work? (Antenna, how do I activate a OEM unit, etc)

I do have another after market unit with XM, but my goal with my S is to upgrade it with only OEM parts (excluding engine) and this radio would be a perfect fit to my modding goal.

Thanks!

Damn that's more than I thought it might be. I wonder if there's any way to get it with out the receiver?

I think the receiver they mention in the description is just the HD unit that plugs into the head unit--it's not a "second" head unit--if you click on the installation instructions, it shows the HD "radio unit"

as for the wiring harness, all years are plug&play compatible with the car,
but not all trunk-mounted CD changers are compatible with all headunits.

Hmm, interesting to know.

Hopefully there will be a part out thread with the extra stuff I need, I would hate to spend that much on it when I already have a Pioneer unit just sitting here.

You'll need to get 04+ compatible audo accessories, since the audo Accessory harness is different.

+1 to aftermarket. For around the price of that XM unit, you could get a decent headunit, DCI from Modifry, and an XM unit for the AM HU. The stock unit is pretty anemic.
