check out the Polk SR 6500's. if you shop around you can find them for 550 a pair. i'm picking mine up today. heard them before and they sound amazing.

 

Excellent speakers with crappy head unit < Ok head unit with Ok Speakers...

 

I have just got some boston pro60 with a jl 300/2 when I get them installed I will let you know how it sounds, I also have a stock head unit.

 

I'll have Boston Rally RC620's and a JL 300/2 installed this weekend with Eclipse head unit... I'll post how it sounds... but I will be adding my sub in later... (it hasn't arrived yet). but I'll let yah know... Boston's are supposed to be pretty decent in mid-bass
