6.5" Speaker Spacers
#32
OK, I am updating this post because I found my tracings today and put together some instructions in the "Freebies" section of my web site. I don't want to put a link here because I'm not an official vendor but it is easy to find - just look for "Freebies" in the top menu and it's the first one listed.
I think I made some tracings of the pieces but looking just now couldn't find them quickly so I'll look some more later this week. I won't be selling them, but if I can find the tracings I'll put them in the "freebies" section of my web site and let you know.
It was a bit of a PITA to install as there are actually 3 pieces, 2 of which you can't see. One is along the top edge of the opening and the other is along the left side and they both fill in the gaps between the main panel and the areas where the door opening curves in 3 dimensions. The right side and bottom are pretty much "planar" so it only required fill-in pieces on the two sides. I had to glue the top and side "fill-in" panels in first and wait for them to set up, then fit in the main panel. The joints are reasonably close fitting and I used silicone caulk to glue the fill-in pieces to the door and then only caulked the corners where the main panel meets them. That way I can cut the silicone joints with a razor knife if I need access in the future.
All of the pieces are made of 1/4" MDF and the main panel has 2 braces; one runs horizontal (you can see it) and the other is almost vertical but on the back side of the panel. You can see the screws where it's attached and both braces are also glued along their length.
