Default Air Bag light on

Since taking my seats out ( I think ) my airbag light is on. I say I think as that was the most recent thing I did before noticing it.

Could this have been something I did ?

There is a connector under the drivers seat ( which I didn't know about) and as I lifted the drivers seat yanked that cable pretty hard before disconnecting the plug. Could it be that ?

MOT is coming up so better get it fixed ;-)

Yep. Could be a broken wire or connector.

So that wire would cause it then ( wasn’t sure what it did, assumed maybe seatbelt sensor but maybe wrongly)

There's a "drivers seat position sensor" in the airbag circuitry in the North American models so I'm assuming there's one for the other markets as well. Looks like two wires in a black connector. And the sensor is on the opposite side from the seatbelt (grey connector).

Yes, it was added in 2006. It might have just come disconnected vs being torn. Hope that's the case. If it's torn or ripped, you'll have to repair then reset the light.

From billman:

If the airbag/SRS light is on, the airbags will not deploy. Neither will the belt tensioners (in a crash, the seat belt retractors are fired, winding backwards and locking the occupants tightly in the seats)

Repair the connector, then the light will need to be manually written off with a paperclip (the light will not go off automatically once the problem is fixed)
