My escort will sometimes go off when I pop the trunk. Not a frickin clue why.

i was going to mention that cobrta's are not worth the money. might as well just get a printer and print yourself tickets and save the cop the trouble

I Agree, the more expensive the radar detector is the better it is,usually. i have been using bel radar detectors for years now. false alerts can not be avoided though, even with expensive radar detectors. use the highway/city features to help reduce false alarms. i have never had a false alarm caused by my car. good luck with your future radar detector purchace

That's funny. I have had two 8500 x50s and has a total of 4 laser hits. 3 were spurious and one was a cop. It just tells you they are reading you, without the jammer function it just tells you to pull over and get your ticket. If you are getting any other signals your unit or wiring is defective.
