I'm installing an Alpine unit next week.

If you want I can try to open it and shot a few macro pictures of the connector. I'll have to check if that jeopardises my warranty, but unless they have some sort of seal I wouldn't think so.

You'll need to order a KCE-865B from UK. I paid (I think) about $77 for mine. As far as I know it was the only one anyone from this board ever imported from the UK as the others got backordered and then cancelled.

Write to Paul Hawkins (look back in this thread for the details) and he'll probably be able to get it.

I am not surprised that the Alpine USA guys said it would work. I've assumed all along that the U.S. versions that lack the jack still had the same circuit boards inside. Anybody handy with solder should be able to do the connections.

For my own part, I didn't want to take my new stereo ahead until after the warranty ran out.
