Default Alpine harness all the same? Switching head units

Hey guys,

Please excuse my lack of electronics knowledge. I currently have an older alpine unit in my s2k - (CDE 212) and I want to upgrade to something newer. I had an Alpine X305S in both my previous S2ks and I really like them or I was also considering the CDE HD149BT.

My question is that if I'm switching out my current HU and put in the x305 will I need to buy a new harness to mate up to the Honda harness or can I just unplug the old one and plug in the new? Thank you!

Will be the same. Some higher end alpines have the grey box(noise filter) on the harness but the ones you listed should be identical, plug and play.

Nope. They have used the same plug for at least the last 15 years. Just wether or not it has a noise filter would make the difference(noise filter isn't bad to have, I have a alpine filter wired in on my current pioneer wire harness lol).

I used my 9886 harness with the 149BT. No problems.

Regardless if the harness is different between headunits or not, you will not have to buy anything extra if you buy the headunit new. They all come with the proper plug and then you mate it with the adapter harness that plugs into the oem radio harness. SO, as long as your current headunit is wired correctly, all you would need to do is change the harness that plugs into the headunit.

With that being said all i've owned and bought in the past 10 years is Alpine and they were all the same plug.
