You can do it yourself in under 15 minutes with just a screw driver (multi-bit) (if you are not hiding the iPod cable and just pig-tail it down in the footwell). Darkknight has a DIY on installing a HU, and it is exactly identical to that. Add another 30 for the DCI (max) and you should be good. Modifry's instructions are pretty detailed.

John - You could always just add one of these
Alpine Sound Processor . The iDA-X001 is able to control it similarly to the unit that was designed around it (as far as I know....I have not seen a demo setup with this combo). It features ALL the tuning capabilities as your HU, plus some, I believe... Even comes with a tuning mic, I think.

Another couple of quick questions for those of you who have this installed. From what I've seen in stores, the screen is very reflective.
Once installed in the S2000, does the low mounting position create a lot of glare, or is the display reasonably easy to see in most conditions?
Do you tend to drive with the radio door cover down with this HU?
Thanks,
Phil

I keep the door up all the time...only down when fiddling with the iPod.
Looks awesome at night. In the daylight the glare makes it very hard to read the screen.
Also, the red backlighting looks great at night.....in sunlight it looks pink.
Blue for day, red for night.

Mine is down all the time, as I have not sold my old DCI (IR Alpine, if anyone is interested
), so I have not ordered a new one yet. The screen is great in all lighting conditions, especially compared to the regular Alpine screens (not even CLOSE in terms of readability.... this screen has not washed out yet).

To those that already have this unit.....
Do you need a new model IPOD (color screen that plays video models) to get info on the alpine screen, or is it just reading tag information, and will work with the OG click wheel models?
