That all sounds right to me. I bought the Ipod link cable. The USB cable comes with it. I am using both.

If I plug my Ipod Mini into the usb it does not work....display says usb error. Works fine in the ipod link cable.
I ran them both under my Rick's floor mat and they fit snugly between the passenger seat and center console....right within reach but completely hidden.

The USB thumbdrive seems to be the fastest of all. It works fantastic.

I got my DCI today.......does not work. I imagine it is something I miswired but I am not sure how I could have....all looks right.....everything works right.........except the dash controls!!!!!!

It seems like my problem is a faulty 3.5 mini cable. The one that runs from the DCI harness to the HU.

If I twisted it I could get the dash controls working perfectly. Very tight tolerance though so by the time I even got close to putting the HU in the dash the signal would short out again. Be interested to see if you have the same problem.

Try twisting or wiggling it right where the 2 wires from the 3.5 mini enter the DCI harness, while constantly bumping the volume lever on your dash.

I am pretty sure it IS compatible based on the fact that Modifry says it is, as well as the fact that when I was able to hold it just right I seemed to have full functionality.

I feel your pain though...I was so excited when it showed up only to have 4hrs of frustration and aggravation trying to figure out if it was my wiring or a bum part or what!

On a more positive note I love the glove box organizer.......totally worth the money to me.....and the install went smooth!

This thread is WORTHLESS without pics. I just ordered mine on eBay two days ago. Got it for $315 +shipping, then I found a free Paypal coupon for free shipping.... Anyone know if it will work with the IR DCI? I have mine for my 7995. I think Modifry is able to retrofit the IR ones for wired for a little extra.... I think I remember seeing that on here somewhere. Can someone confirm / disconfirm this?

Darkknight.... PM sent..... UPGRADE TIME!

John

Does it use the same DCI as the 9857? I just don't feel like rewiring it.
