The reason I mentioned the 8GB thumb drice is that it is $55 holds as much music as the $250 nano and can be left in the car at all times.

I don't want my Ipod to get stolen so it goes in and out. If I forget the Ipod at home it's like I have 8GB of storage built into the HU at all times.

Very awesome Alpine!

Exactly! Standard usb drives should all work fine. I even considered doing 4 1Gig drives each with their own mix.

They said:
Apline: yes standard usb flash drive will work
Me: how will play list work? like ipod?
A: folders work as play list, radio will recognize as a play list
Me: will there be any loss in sound?
A: some , but it will not be heard, depending on the music format
Me: Is radio available at all stores
A: still coming to market
Me: ipod connectors?
A: 1-3 gen ipod will need the traditional alpine ipod connector $30. New radio comes with
new usb 4-5 gen interface usb/ doc
